Cyber Security Specialist – 24 Month Daily Rate

A large and well-established organisation within the public sector is undertaking a significant digital transformation program to modernise its core enterprise systems, improve service reliability, and strengthen cloud and cybersecurity capabilities.

They are looking for a day-rate Cyber Security Specialist who will play a critical hands-on role in securing the council’s ERP transformation and broader ICT environment.

You will be responsible for implementing and configuring security controls across cloud, SaaS, identity, integration, and enterprise systems, while ensuring compliance with Victorian Government security frameworks and industry best practice. This role is key to embedding security-by-design across the ERP program and strengthening the council’s overall cyber maturity.

Responsibilities:

• Implement and manage security controls across Microsoft 365, Azure, and SaaS platforms
• Configure IAM controls including SSO, MFA, RBAC, and privileged access management
• Support ERP and SaaS security assurance activities, including TechnologyOne
• Conduct security reviews of APIs, integrations, and data migration activities
• Support SIEM monitoring, incident response, and vulnerability management using tools like Microsoft Sentinel
• Work with stakeholders and vendors to remediate security risks and improve controls
• Contribute to secure configuration, hardening, and Zero Trust implementation across environments

Skills & Experience:

• 7–10+ years’ experience in cybersecurity roles within enterprise environments
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 security
• Experience securing SaaS platforms and ERP systems in complex environments
• Strong IAM expertise (Entra ID, SSO, MFA, RBAC, PAM)
• Experience with SIEM/SOC tools (e.g. Microsoft Sentinel) and incident response
• Strong knowledge of security frameworks (ACSC Essential Eight, VPDSS, ISO 27001, NIST CSF)
• Proven experience working with stakeholders in government or regulated environments
