This role will see you lead the infrastructure and cloud function, shaping how technology services are delivered while driving a modern, cloud-first approach across the organisation.
This full-time permanent role is based in the northern suburbs of Melbourne (hybrid 3 days onsite + 2 days remote.)
About the Role
Reporting into the Head of IT, you’ll take ownership of the council’s infrastructure and cloud ecosystem, overseeing everything from strategy and governance through to operational delivery.
You’ll play a critical role in uplifting infrastructure maturity, driving cloud adoption, establishing service catalogues, and embedding best practice across more than 100+ enterprise services.
This is a highly visible position where you’ll work closely with senior stakeholders, vendors, and internal teams to ensure technology services are secure, reliable, and aligned to business needs.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead infrastructure and cloud strategy, with a strong focus on cloud adoption and optimisation
- Develop and deliver a roadmap for migrating and modernising systems into cloud environments
- Establish and manage service catalogues, SLAs, and governance frameworks
- Ensure infrastructure is secure, scalable, and aligned to business growth
- Drive automation, continuous improvement, and modern ways of working
- Oversee disaster recovery and business continuity in a cloud-enabled environment
- Manage vendors and cloud providers to deliver value and performance
- Lead and develop a high-performing infrastructure team
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience leading cloud adoption or transformation initiatives
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (with specialist knowledge in Azure) and hybrid environments
- Experience modernising legacy infrastructure into cloud-based solutions
- Understanding of cost optimisation, security, and governance within cloud environments
- Ability to influence and uplift stakeholders on cloud capability and ways of working
- Strong leadership skills, with experience building capability within teams
